What diamond core drilling is for
Diamond core drilling cuts a clean circle through reinforced concrete. MEP contractors in Dubai use it for soil stacks, cable risers, chilled-water pipes, kitchen extracts and fire-sprinkler drops. The bit is a hollow barrel with a diamond rim, so the concrete comes out as a core instead of rubble.
Core drilling in Dubai is specified by diameter and by the element: slab, wall or beam. A 100 mm electrical hole and a 300 mm duct hole are the same method at a different scale. The reinforcement, cover and whatever sits on the other side of the hole are what change the job.
Slabs, walls and beams
Slab core cutting is the everyday opening: bathrooms, plant rooms and retail risers. The drill rig is bolted or vacuum-fixed to the slab, and the floor below is protected before the core drops.
Wall core cutting is for ducts and pipes passing through a shear wall or a basement wall. Beam core cutting needs more care because the hole takes steel out of a structural member. If the drawing does not already show the hole, get it checked before anyone drills.
Scan the line, then drill
A core bit will cut rebar. It should not cut a post-tension cable, a live conduit or a pressurised pipe. Concrete scanning before core drilling shows those embeds so the hole can move a few centimetres and still meet the service.

What diameters can you core drill?

Will core drilling crack the slab?
A properly fixed rig and a diamond barrel cut the circle without the shock of a breaker. The slab still needs its reinforcement checked if the hole is large or close to an edge.
Can you drill in a finished apartment?
Yes. We control water, protect finishes below the hole, and remove the core. Access, ceiling type and working hours need to be agreed first.
