Why the scan came first
The slab was due for cores and a saw cut. A post-tension cable or a live conduit in that line would have stopped the job. Gulf Cut scanned the area, marked what was in the concrete, and only then set the drill and the saw.
Holes that landed on steel were shifted to a clear position and agreed with the drawing before anyone drilled.
The job was a Dubai slab that still had to be cored and sawn. The method was a concrete scan before any blade or barrel started. The outcome was holes and cuts placed on the clear lines, away from the steel and services the scan had marked.
What was marked
The scan is only useful if the marks stay on the slab until the cutter uses them.
- Reinforcement and cover
- Conduits and pipes in the scan depth
- Lines to avoid for the saw and the cores
- Clear positions marked for the crew
